April is National Humor Month
April is lauded for it’s showers and the sure sign that we’re heading into spring (well for those in the appropriate hemisphere. But what you might not know is that April is National Humor Month. Today’s post is, unsurprisingly, about this wonderful month. I’ll post some resources, some links to organizations, probably a shameless book plug, and other odds and ends that will help you better explore humor in your world.
There are a few organizations out there that prmote laughter and humor. One that I’m a member of is the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor or AATH. There are laughter yoga groups, your local comedy club, and even academic organizations devoted to laughter and humor studies. There are podcasts on humor, that are humorous, and anything in between. Thar’s a virtual cornucopia of content out there, so get out there, use your search engine of choice, and have a look. Of course, since there is far too much out there for me to adequately link, I encourage readers to post their own suggestions in the comment section below.
The main thing for me is to encourage you to explore laughter and humor in your life. If there’s a month devoted to it, then clearly it’s important right? Of course April is also national Autism Awareness Month, Irritable Bowel Syndrome Awareness Nonth, Mathematics Awareness Month, and whole host of others. That’s a whole lot of awareness, so don’t think you have to get to all the things. It’s a fool’s errand to try. But since this is my substack, of course give it up for humor and laughter.
Have a wonderful month of April, get out there and make it a goal to increase your laughter and humor quotient by 48.7%. Because if you do, 60% of the time it will make your life 100% of the time better. Laugh often and much.
